One study conducted by a team of Swiss scientists assessed the impact of cellphone radiation on memory performance in adolescents aged between 12-17 years over a one-year period. After its publication in Environmental Health Perspectives, the study found that continuous exposure to EMFs from mobile phones negatively affects adolescent memory development. This is particularly concerning due to the importance of memory for learning. The effect on figural memory is mostly found in the right hemisphere of the brain. It was higher in adolescents who held their cellphone against the right side of their head. This suggests that EMF absorbed by the brain may be the cause of the observations.
3. Exposure to EMFs from Cellphones Impacts Cognitive Function
Another recent study was conducted on a group of female medical students (aged between 18-25 years). It found that exposure to EMFs from cellular phones can affect the structure of the human brain. Additionally, the study revealed that EMF exposure was associated with a decrease in cognitive performance among the participants. The study was published in the Journal of Microscopy and Ultrastructure. On the one hand, it found that exposure to EMFs from cellphones did not alter the volume of the hippocampus (the part of the brain responsible for short-term memory). On the other hand, it found that students who spend more time talking on their phones are more likely to suffer from a lack of attention and poor concentration. The researchers concluded that prolonged cellphone use can result in a reduced ability to suppress external stimuli, causing users to become easily distracted.
When the brain operates at a frequency of 7.83 Hertz, Earth’s magnetic field
The hippocampus operates in theta mode (frequency ranging between 6-9 Hertz) when the brain is active and alert, and also during light REM sleep, when dreaming typically occurs. Short term memory and concentration is most efficient when the brain operates at a frequency of 7.83 Hertz — the same frequency that the Earth’s magnetic field resonates at.
When we are exposed to EMF radiation, it can disrupt the frequency that our brain operates at, negatively impacting our health and wellbeing.
